Serving as construction manager, Norwood completed 2 “destination retail” superstores (130,000 SF and 185,000 SF) and provided preconstruction services for a third facility for Cabela’s, a specialty retailer of outdoor recreation merchandise. In creating Cabela’s ultimate destination retail experiences, each building’s complex structure involved a mix of precast concrete wall panels, structural concrete columns, glue-laminated beams, exposed wood decking, real log structures, and large structural steel members. The combination of components creates beautifully rustic facades and theme-park like shopping experiences. Each interior features a mountain replica, walk-through fresh water aquarium, trout ponds, shooting gallery, archery range, wild-game museum, and a full-service restaurant. Norwood’s relationship with Cabela’s began in 2004 when Norwood served as construction manager for Cabela’s 1.2 million square foot northeastern distribution center.
