Acting as construction manager, Norwood delivered a LEED Gold certified, 90,000 square foot global headquarters and technology center for Colorcon, Inc., a leader in pharmaceutical technology. For 18 months prior to groundbreaking, Norwood provided design-assist services to the Colorcon facility development team, ensuring all project goals were met through a smooth construction process. This one-of-a-kind facility includes 30,000 square feet of laboratory space, 20,000 square feet of executive office space, a Tier 2.5 data center with global operation capabilities, and a sophisticated web-based building automation system that was integrated into all of the building’s MEP components. Additional sustainable elements include a Lutron quantum system to regulate light levels, a daylight harvesting system, a green roof garden with an underground water storage containment, and a de-ionized water system to serve the labs. Compared to similar facilities, the efficient design consumes 31 percent less energy and 48 percent less water.
