Langhorne, PA
Serving as construction manager, Norwood has worked collaboratively with SMMC in Langhorne PA, on several projects including the new St. Clare Medical Building. To make space for the new 110,000 SF facility Norwood demolished the existing administration building and constructed the new building only a few feet away from the hospital’s main entrance. Norwood delivered the new facility in 12 months, within an operating hospital environment with no disruption to patient care. The building houses several different medical practices including cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, osteopathy, gynecology, and rehabilitation. Norwood also constructed a 300-space parking deck built concurrently with the medical office building project.
Norwood’s team later collaborated with SMMC on a 20-bed med/surg-1 critical care unit for bariatric and ventilator private patient rooms. Located in the middle of the hospital and surrounded by other equally-critical departments, Norwood implemented a strategic coordination plan to mitigate the challenges of the site constraints.
Campus electrical upgrades were also completed including two new primary electrical feeds, a new centralized generator with multiple transformers, and all electrical distribution. The project also includes retrofitting of the centralized generator building including installation of new oil tanks and pumping system.
