Fort Washington, PA
Acting as construction manager, Norwood completed the comprehensive repositioning of a 1-story former light industrial building, conversion of a 2-story office building, and creation of a new courtyard. The project was delivered on behalf of GMAC Residential Mortgage and their 2,000 divisional employees. In addition to completing all phases of work while the building was partially occupied, Norwood met all budgetary and scheduling goals, including a move-in schedule with 15 sub-phases.
The completed headquarters features a Tier 3 data center, 1,600 square feet of skylights overlooking 3 separate town centers, an 800-seat dining room and cafeteria that doubles as a conference room, a fitness center, a 100,000 square foot courtyard with basketball court, and other employee recreational amenities. Norwood provided extensive preconstruction services in an effort to meet tight deadlines and schedules, while creating this unique and vibrant work environment.
The project received an Excellence in Construction Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors, Eastern PA Chapter.
Since the original conversion project was completed in 2007, Norwood has remained on-site at the Fort Washington Technology Center, transforming the site’s footprint to accommodate additional and tenants.
