Norwood served as construction manager for a new R&D center on behalf of Teleflex, a global provider of medical technologies. The 63,000 square foot precast and glass building houses R&D lab and testing space separated into 15 lab units. It features a VFD exhaust system and a Class I, Division I classified explosion-proof heptane/wash room. The remaining space consists of offices and a Design, Engineering, Tool/Machine Shop that supports production facilities around the world. The area was designed to optimize flexibility, allowing equipment to be relocated as needs change over time. An overhead track electric busway offers flexible power distribution. The building also includes at 350KW generator, 20-ton process chiller, DX AHUs, humidification, and a hot water hydronic system.
The project received an Excellence in Construction Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors, Eastern, PA Chapter.
This represents the second successful project delivered by Norwood, who also completed the interior build-out of Teleflex’s 85,000 square foot Corporate Headquarters in Wayne, PA.
