Acting as construction manager, Norwood built a 2-story, 9,000 square foot addition to an existing oncology center in Mechanicsburg, PA. The facility features a variety of state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment areas, including a Gamma Knife ‐ one of the most technologically-advanced instruments for eradicating brain tumors. The Gamma Knife utilizes a weapons-grade radioactive source, which required Norwood to construct a heavily-reinforced vault enclosure complete with radiation shielding and a 5,000-pound lead-lined door. The equipment was precision-installed to exacting standards.
