Norwood served as construction manager to deliver the 9,300 square foot Lenfest Center, a management and education facility at the ChesLen Preserve in Chester County. The Lenfest Center was commissioned through Natural Lands Trust, an organization dedicated to protecting forests, fields, streams, and wetlands in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.
The organization’s core values are mirrored in the facility’s ultra-sustainability design which incorporates extensive recycled material from the property’s previous use. Other notable features include a geothermal HVAC system, rain gardens, an outdoor pavilion for bird viewing, landscaping designed to encourage wildlife interaction, and integration of the building into the natural surroundings.
The project received an Excellence in Construction Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors, Eastern PA Chapter.
